Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)
Almost all vehicles manufactured since 1995 have the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) feature, so it’s quite likely that you have it in your car. In cars without ABS, the brakes usually lock if you slam on the brake pedal in emergency situations. This will cause your car to skid. Perhaps you’ve heard experts saying that you “pump” the brakes in such scenarios. That is actually what ABS do, they deliver the same pumping action but at a much faster rate, up to ten times a second. In addition, there are sensors that determine which wheel is most at risk of locking up so most of the action can be directed to it.
The ABS can be a real life-saver that’s why we have experts at EFI Diagnostic and Repair Center. Routine maintenance of the hydraulic components of your brakes will spare you from costly repairs later on. Fuel Injection Systems
As fuel prices continue to soar, vehicle owners are literally spending a fortune just to keep their rides rolling. Fuel injection systems can be affected by poor fuel distribution due to defective injectors, which leads to high fuel consumption. Other problems include black exhaust, hard starting, rough idle, engine miss, weak acceleration, smell of fuel in the cabin and fuel leaks from injector seals. Note that the injectors’ interior components will wear out over time, whether you have constant or electronic fuel injection in your car. At this point, the injector will no longer function properly, delivering too little or too much fuel to the engine. If not replaced, the defective injectors can wreak havoc in the fuel system and cause damage to the fuel pumps, fuel filters, fuel distributors, fuel regulators and check valves. This means a huge headache on your part because many of these mechanisms are more expensive to repair.
